Andalusia Historic House & Gardens:
Since the turn of the 20th century, many of Philadelphia’s first families built their country estates along the banks of the Delaware River. By river barge or carriage, they came to escape the heat of the summers in the city and to entertain their wealthy and influential guests, of which some were prominent figures in history.
The ancestral home of the Biddle family, Andalusia, has been a stately presence on this stretch of water for more than 225 years. In addition to the Big House, an excellent example of Greek Revival architecture, Andalusia is also a natural paradise of preserved native woodlands and spectacular gardens that are continuously evolving.
Historic Lunch:
After our tour, we’ll enjoy an included lunch at the lovely Historic King George II Inn.
Gorgeous Grundy Mansion:
One more magnificent mansion to admire, the Grundy Mansion where we’ll take a step inside and experience life in the Victorian Era through the eyes of the Grundy family.
The finest décor of the Gilded Age will surround us along with lovely blooming gardens perfect for wandering.
There will be time to take a stroll along the picturesque Riverfront Park with its splendid vistas and relaxing atmosphere.
Pricing & Departures:
Departs Ridgewood Graydon Pool South Lot – across Linwood Ave at 7:30 AM and returns at approximately 7:30 PM
Departs Morris Plains Community Center, 51 Jim Fear Dr. at 8:15 AM and returns at approximately 6:45 PM
Departs South Plainfield High School at the end of Lane Ave at 9:00 AM and returns approximately 6:00 PM
Cars may be parked at all locations at your own risk.
No reservations accepted without a payment of $195 per person. Make checks payable to “Group Tours & Travel” and mail to the above address. A full refund will be granted if canceled prior May 15, 2025. No refund will be granted on a cancellation that occurs after May 15, 2025. Group Tours is not responsible for any delays, cancellations, injuries or circumstances beyond its control and reserves the right to change this itinerary.
