James Rose Center:

Often the most amazing things are hidden in plain sight. We go about our daily lives and pass by the most wonderous hidden treasures right in our own backyard. Intimately nestled in a Ridgewood neighborhood lies the magnificent modern home of the avant garde landscape architect James Rose.
We’ll hear his fascinating history while being amazed by his creation that epitomizes the fusion of indoor and outdoor spaces with a rare design allowing for changes in the environment. This will be a rare chance to step inside a most brilliant, inventive space, one that cannot be described by mere words.
“Some people think of the landscape as something out there, unrelated to what happens inside them…this is blindness” – James Rose.
Picnic Lunch:

Since it’s a lovely summer day, let’s enjoy an included deli style lunch by Lake Parsippany.
Stickley Museum:

Now we move onto another piece of wonderful, local architecture that encompasses the most complete expression of Craftsman style at the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms.
It’s here where we’ll tour the family home and original furnishings as we experience Gustav Stickley’s ideas about the impact of architecture, design, and landscape on a meaningful life.
Now when we all return home, we’ll want to re-do our houses!
