Itinerary: Subject to change due to local conditions, unforeseen events, or more interesting as yet unplanned awesome experiences that become available
Overview:
Winter is here! Why not embrace the season and see the most spectacular artistic display of snow sculpting in the United States! Yes, it’s cold but that’s the only way to experience the most amazing creations ever sculpted from 3 ton, 10-foot-high cylinders of snow. This year marks the 30th year of the National Snow Sculpting Championship at Lake Geneva’s Winterfest, a festival created by local business owners. We will see firsthand what it takes to build a snow sculpture and watch each day how it progresses. Luckily, we will get to warm ourselves in the various tented areas each equipped with bonfires as we watch the sculptures grow.
If we were ourselves, the artists, it would take us 100 hours from start to finish and we would need about 30 mugs of coffee and hot chocolate (or other warming libations) to keep sculpting! As daily participants in witnessing the evolving of piles of snow into art, we will have the opportunity to vote for our favorite sculptures which will give the artists a chance to win the People’s Choice award.
Lake Geneva in itself is a beautiful area to explore in the winter and offers a wide variety of fun activities you can only find here. So pack your warmest hat, coat, gloves and scarf and don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime frigid festival!
