“Reading history is one thing, but seeing history truly leaves a lasting impression. Our class studied the British Empire and the implications it had on its numerous territories, focusing on India in particular. Traveling to the heartland of England and visiting the Bangladeshi communities provided a foundation of understanding that texts alone could not communicate. In addition to the cultural insight, touring the UK allowed me to experience the essence the country in a way that’s inaccessible to the average tourist. I felt like I was part of something and I long to continue where I left off.”
