Welcome to the unique experience of Nashville at Christmas! There’s nowhere else on earth like the Opryland Hotel with its over 3 million Christmas lights decorating an incredible nine acres of indoor atriums encompassing a variety of restaurants and shops. There are waterfalls, over 50,000 plants, elevated walkways, a nightly tree lighting with caroling, an outdoor nativity scene, and even an indoor boat ride on the river in the Delta Atrium. Relax and enjoy the views from the balcony of your room which overlooks one of these extensively decorated atriums. Topping off our time here are three spectacular shows, so grab your cowboy hat and dancing shoes, and don’t be left in New Jersey when all the fun is in Nashville!
Day One: Downtown Nashville &
Johnny Cash Museum
“Howdy,” is the immortal way that Minnie Pearl might have welcomed us to her city. We arrive in Nashville in time to have lunch on our own downtown in one of the many restaurants. Time is provided to browse, sightsee and take in the magic of this lively town.
This afternoon we visit The Johnny Cash Museum, a spectacular museum dedicated to this immortal “Man in Black”. This museum features the largest and most comprehensive collection of Cash’s artifacts and memorabilia in the world.
Day One: Opryland Resort
From here it’s a short drive to our home for the next four nights, The Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort, where every person will enjoy a balcony room overlooking the indoor atrium. There is so much to see and do in this magnificent hotel! This evening dinner is on our own to give you time to explore all the wonders of the Opryland. Each guest will receive a $60.00 Opryland gift card that may be used in many of the hotel’s most popular restaurants.
Day Two: General Jackson Showboat
Evening in Downtown Nashville
Most of the next three days will be spent in and around our world-class resort. After a relaxed morning, we are treated to an included lunch aboard The General Jackson Showboat followed by a vibrant Christmas Show while cruising along the Cumberland River. This 300-foot-long vessel is styled in the grand tradition of the paddlewheel riverboats that plied America’s waterways in the 1800s.
Upon return to our hotel, there is still much to do today. A roundtrip bus pass is included that will take us from our hotel to the downtown. It departs every hour and runs until 10:30 PM. This is a great chance to visit downtown for dinner, see a show, or take in the flavor of the Nashville nightlife.
Day Three: Opryland Fun
Today we spend time in our beautiful resort at our leisure to do all the things we don’t want to miss. Don’t forget the included boat ride in the Delta Atrium, a fun and interesting way to experience the enormity and diversity of the hotel’s indoor gardens. Another exceptionally unique and included attraction is ICE, an indoor winter wonderland featuring two million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures that must be seen to be believed. Here you’ll gaze at true works of art, with many that are multi-colored and follow a cartoon or storybook theme.
Day Three: Dinner & Show
This evening we are treated to a fantastic dinner and show featuring The Oakridge Boys who have sold over 41 million albums, won 5 Grammy Awards and are members of the Country and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.
Day Four: Andrew Jackson's Hermitage
After a relaxed morning, we visit the Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson. This former home of the People’s President will open its doors to us as honored guests of the Jackson family where each room of the mansion will reveal centuries of stories. Included is a wine tasting from Natchez Hills Winery.
Day Four: Lunch in 12South
Onto Nashville’s go-to trendy neighborhood 12South for lunch on your own and time to wander and browse. In you wanders, you will be amazed to see Dolly Parton’s rehearsal studio sandwiched between a taco spot and a chicken joint, be seduced by the smell of barbecue, and enticed by a gas station turned gift shop owned by none other than Hank Williams Jr’s daughter.
Day Four: Grand Ole Opry
This evening we witness a 95-year-long traditional show that made country music famous at none other than the Grand Ole Opry. This is the longest-running live radio show in the world and is something everyone should experience at least once.
Day Five: Studio B
There is still a lot to see and do before we head home. We begin with a tour of the historic Studio B, where Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins, Eddy Arnold, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton and many more have recorded. Next, we visit the Country Music Hall of Fame where we are treated to an audio tour highlighting the history of country music.
Day Five: Wildhorse Saloon
and Home to New Jersey
Lunch is included today in the world-famous Wildhorse Saloon, housing the downtown’s largest dancefloor perfect for country line dancing. Hope you brought your cowboy boots because today we’ll have a line dancing lesson! Now it’s off to the airport to hop on our flight back to New Jersey filled with all the fun, country Christmas memories made.
