The mystery awaits us as we drive through the rolling hills of Lancaster County Pennsylvania on a crisp November day. There will be wine, spirits, mansions, history, theater, local culture, and nature that will all come together in spectacular fun!
Day One: Mount Hope Winery & Lunch
Let the mystery begin! Our time in Lancaster County will begin with indulgence in something that can vary in color between red, pink and white and be dry or sweet or somewhere in between. Yes, a wine tasting at the Mount Hope Winery!
Our formal private tasting here will include a wine tasting specialist who will teach us to learn the joys of wine as a part of everyday living. (Although some of us may have already learned this!) We’ll explore the four “Ss” of wine tasting and will be guided through samples from sweet to dry. Our tasting will also include beer and cider, a souvenir glass and a guided tour of their facility. We’ll also enjoy a delectable lunch to accompany our wine.
*And if you are not a wine drinker, don’t fret! Let us know and we’ll bring a mystery sparking bubbly drink for you to enjoy!
Day One: Lititz & The Wilbur
A famous former chocolate factory in the charming town of Lititz, well known for its buds, is where we will be sleeping tonight. You guessed it; none other than The Wilbur! The original features of this former chocolate factory have been preserved and is the perfect location to explore the quaint shops, boutiques, and cafes of downtown before our night of mystery.
Day One: Mystery Dinner at Bube's Brewery
As evening arrives, we’ll find ourselves among catacombs, history, and murder. Where else would this be other than Bube’s Brewery, an historic 19th century brewery complete with a catacombs restaurant!
It’s here that we will enjoy an historic tour and step into a murder mystery in which dinner is part of the plot. We’ll attempt to put together all the clues to help solve the mystery and bring the murderer to justice. Then back to the Wilbur for some sweet, chocolate coated dreams.
Day Two: Lancaster Central Market
This morning we will find ourselves as if back in 1730, surrounded by Amish recipes, farm produce, hydroponics, fresh pasta and sauces, fresh flowers, freshly squeezed juice, comida criollo, free range meat and poultry and so much more. The Lancaster Central Market, a blend of old world and new awaits our exploration.
Day Two: Moon Dancer Winery & Lunch
We will spend the afternoon at a French Country Chateau overlooking the Susquehanna River that offers us a taste from nature and a lesson from a legend. Since it can’t be the countryside in France, it has to be none other than Moon Dancer Winery! The charming atmosphere with stunning views of the vineyards and surrounding countryside will be our backdrop to enjoy more wine tastings today.
We will sample wines from European dry to PA sweet, ciders, as well as locally produced craft beer and spirits. We’ll also take a tour of their vineyards and wine making facility, have an included lunch, then sit back and relax in the Great Room in front of the fireplace and may have the chance to listen to live local musicians. As we relax, we’ll take in the advice from the Moon Dancer Legend: “Some say it’s the Moon Dancer within who brings about a slower pace, a thoughtful rhythm, an appreciation of simple pleasures, and the ability to be profoundly moved by the smell of a summer rain or the loveliness of a star filled night. Be the Moon Dancer! Enjoy!”
