This will be an amazing getaway to put you deep into the Christmas Spirit! Christmas lights in London Town with coffee, tea or hot chocolate and traditional Christmas singers. European-style Christkindlmarkt for unique gifts (and plenty of room on the bus to bring them back!), entertaining and education walking tour of Annapolis, experience Christmas-time as it was in the 1830s at Hammond House, dinner and a cruise to see the Lights in the Harbor for the Eastport Yacht Parade, two nights at the Westin Annapolis, Winterthur Museum & Gardens Yuletide Exhibition, and a lifetime of Christmas memories!
Day 1: We begin our Christmas adventure watching the delightful Maryland countryside roll by and stop for a delicious included lunch along the way at the scenic Hemmingway’s at the Bay Bridge Marina. Upon our arrival in Annapolis we’ll check into the Westin Annapolis, our home for the next few days. There will be time to stroll charming downtown Annapolis and get dinner on our own before heading over to experience the magic of a winter evening in illuminated London Town. Grab a coffee, tea or hot chocolate and stroll through the gardens decorated with festive holiday lights and discover colonial nighttime festivities and holidays at a candlelit William Brown House, decorated for the season. Enjoy a special performance by the Annapolis Baroque Ensemble.
Day 2: Since the yacht parade tonight will have us up later than usual, you will have the opportunity to have a leisurely breakfast, stroll downtown, run a marathon or grab some extra zzzz’s. Later in the morning we will take an informative and fascinating trolley tour of downtown Annapolis where we will learn about several of the about 1300 buildings that are more than a century old and represent 15 different architectural styles. This is definitely a camera-worthy excursion! After our tour we will head over to Annapolis’ version of a European-style Christkindlmarkt, a perfect opportunity to get some unique gifts or pick up something for your own home to decorate for the season. Thereafter dinner is in order at the beautifully decorated Severn Inn after which we will board our comfortable yacht to watch the iconic Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade. On board we will be treated to desert and a champagne toast! A bar will be open as well (not included). The Lights Parade is a beloved Annapolis tradition: Every year on the second Saturday in December, magic happens on the water of the Annapolis Harbor—boats suddenly appear out of the cold winter night illuminated with thousands of colored lights and crewed by jolly revelers!
Day 3: This morning we will take in the historic Hammond-Harwood House Museum and be transported to Christmas-time as it was in the 1830s as we learn about the history of the house and its inhabitants through artifacts and told by our professional guide. A truly fascinating visit! As we say goodbye to Annapolis and head to our next adventure at Winterthur Museum & Gardens, we will stop for an included lunch at Fisherman’s Inn on the scenic Bay Bridge. After a relaxing drive, we will be entranced by the Yuletide exhibit at Winterthur that embraces the warmth and festivity of the season. We will have a magnificent holiday tour of Henry Francis duPont’s mansion and if weather permits, a trolley ride through the lovely gardens. Our journey ends back in New Jersey with wonderful memories and truly in the holiday spirit!
